    Lenten Wednesday Bible Study Series

    April 6, 2022

Please join us in fellowship and study. Each session will begin at 6:00 pm with Evening Prayer, followed by a meatless Pot-Luck Supper, followed by the class. Be sure to bring your Prayer Book and a Bible! Each session will be comprised of a discussion of two separate Bible texts chosen in advance. Bishop Rasch, Deacon Yeager, and Ken Kubo will alternately lead us in a study of the first text at each session. The second text will be selected by the attendees.

6 Apr - the fifth session will be hosted by Gretchen Martin. Texts:

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (II Timothy 4:7)

30 Mar - the fourth session will be hosted by Sandy Wood. Text:

But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. (St. Luke 17:7-10)

23 Mar - the third session will be hosted by Nancy Jones. Texts:

Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. (St. John 4:50-53)

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (St. John 20:26-29)

16 Mar - the second session will be hosted by Beth & Ken Kubo. Texts:

Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. (St. Luke 18:31)

Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (St. Luke 24:25-27)
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:18-19)

9 Mar - the first session will be hosted by Gretchen Martin. First texts: St. Matthew 3:6, James 5:16, and 1 John 1:9-10.

And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. (St. Matthew 3:6)

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:9-10)
