Collected Prayers

A Collect for Peace
O God, who art the author of peace and lover of concord, in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom; Defend us thy humble servants in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in thy defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries, through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect for Grace
O Lord, our heavenly Father, Almighty and everlasting God, who hast brought us to the beginning of this day; Defend us in the same with thy mighty power; and grant that this day we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger; but that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be righteous in thy sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Collect for the Unity of God’s People
O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, our only Saviour, the Prince of Peace; Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions. Take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatsoever else may hinder us from godly union and concord: that as there is but one Body and one Spirit, and one hope of our calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of us all, so we may be all of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and one mouth glorify thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the Armed Forces
O Lord God of Hosts, stretch forth, we pray thee, thine almighty arm to strengthen and protect the soldiers of our country. Support them in the day of battle, and in the time of peace keep them safe from all evil; endue them with courage and loyalty; and grant that in all things they may serve without reproach; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Healing
O Almighty God, who art the giver of all health, and the aid of them that turn to thee for succour, We entreat thy strength and goodness in behalf of all thy servants who suffer illness, especially thy servants Henry+, James+, John+, Burton+, Won, Tony, Barbara, Ray, Bob, Evelyn, Frank, Pamela, Frank, Jo Ann, Ruth, Virginia, Robert, Cecelia, Alma, Celia, Delia, Helen, Jeanette, Caroline, William, Theresa, Peter, Dora, William, Clarence, and Katie that they may be healed of their infirmities and strengthened in body and spirit, to thine honour and glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for All the Faithful Departed
O God, the King of saints, we praise and glorify thy holy Name for all thy servants who have finished their course in thy faith and fear: for the blessed Virgin Mary; for the holy patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs; and for all your other righteous servants, known to us and unknown, especially those in our armed forces who have laid down their lives in the Middle East and throughout the world; and we pray that, encouraged by their examples, aided by their prayers, and strengthened by their fellowship, we also may be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; through the merits of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for the President of the United States and all in Civil Authority
O LORD our Governor, whose glory is in all the world; We commend this nation to thy merciful care, that being guided by thy Providence, we may dwell secure in thy peace. Grant to Barack, the President of the United States, to Jerry our Governor, to Antonio our Mayor, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do thy will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness; and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
