Our Rector

Bishop RaschSince April 1989, the congregation of St. Mary the Virgin has been fortunate to be served by the Right Reverend Anthony F. Rasch. Bp. Rasch currently serves as the Bishop Ordinary, Diocese of the Pacific and Southwest.

Bp. Rasch formerly served as the Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese, the Dean of the Deanery of Los Angeles, the first Rector of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Orange, the Dean of the Deanery of Southern California, the first Rector of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament (Episcopal) in Placentia, and Associate Rector of St. Luke’s of the Mountains in La Crescenta. He has assisted at Holy Apostles in Glendale and the Church of Our Saviour in Los Angeles.

He was ordained to the priesthood on 11 March 1967, after earning a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from General Theological Seminary in New York in 1966. He also studied at the College of the Resurrection in Yorkshire, England. He was consecrated Bishop on 13 September 2008 by the Most Reverend Thomas Kleppinger, Metropolitan and Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Resurrection; the Right Reverend Leo Michael, Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Holy Trinity and Great Plains; and the Right Reverend Henry Joseph King, Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Pacific and Southwest. He was formally enthroned as Bishop Ordinary, succeeding Bishop King, on 21 May 2011.
