e are followers of a Way...
- instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ
- recorded in Holy Scripture
- expressed in the Creeds and Councils of the undivided Church
- celebrated in the Sacraments
- preserved by the teaching of bishops in Apostolic Succession
- observed in the forms of the Anglican tradition
We walk this Way to grow in knowledge and love of our Lord, to strengthen the Light and resist the Darkness within and without, and to strive to live each day within the Word and still within the world. We believe that traditional worship is still valuable and relevant to contemporary society.
If you are seeking a church home or just passing through, please feel welcome.
Come unto me, all ye that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you. (Matthew 11:28)
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
So God loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, to the end that all that believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
We are in need of an organist to play at our services, typically up to 2 hrs for the Sunday service (hymns from the Hymnal 1940 plus service music). We have a new Rodgers Inspire Classic 227 organ and would love someone looking to build their experience to exercise it. Compensation negotiable. Please see our posting at the LA American Guild of Organists website or reach out to Robert Jones (mcgyvr -at- live.com). Thank you!

Advent-tide is Here!
-
A bright and blessed Advent-tide to all! Just a reminder that this Sunday’s service (9 December) will be the Tenth Annual Advent Service of Lessons and Carols. Bring a friend! As 8 December is the celebration of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, there will be a Rosary beginning at 9:15, with the Advent service beginning at 10:00.
Also, through 16 December, we collect donations of toiletries or similar small gifts for distribution to some of our neighbors in residential care facilities or in need. Please gift wrap the items and label them for a man or woman.
Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put upon us the armour of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which thy Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal. Through him who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, now and ever. Amen.

Retreat a Great Success
-
Father Rasch and three parishioners (Gretchen Martin, Stephen Gallardo, and Ken Kubo) attended the diocesan retreat held this past weekend at the Mater Dolorosa Passionist Center in Sierra Madre.
The Center is a beautiful facility located at the foot of Mt. Wilson, founded in 1924 by Passionist brothers. The Passionists are members of a Roman Catholic order that emphasize the remembrance of the sufferings and death of Jesus as the path to understanding and appreciating God’s love and sacrifice. The grounds include meeting rooms, several prayer gardens, fountain courts, and an outdoor Stations of the Cross.
The retreat consisted of a series of meditations and services from the traditional Liturgy of the Hours (midday Mass, Evensong, Compline, Matins). Archdeacon Burton Swan of St. Ignatius of Antioch (Riverside) conducted the retreat. The theme focused on the traditional ascetic triad of purification, illumination, and unification. Each of the three meditations began with prayer and a set of readings, followed by an hour and a half of silent contemplation; many attendees chose to walk around the beautiful grounds or visit the gardens as an aid.
The meals were simple and abundant, the rooms austere and comfortable (and free of televisions!), and the (nominally) silent fellowship warm. The “quiet day†refreshed and uplifted the spirits of all attendees. We commend Archdeacon Swan and Bob Teuchert (who handled all the coordination with the facility) for their efforts in this highly successful retreat.

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favour and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honourable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
